The Ultimate Commercial Cleaning Checklist for Facility Managers
Keeping a commercial property clean requires more than a weekly sweep. Here's the comprehensive checklist our Building Services division uses on every contract.
A well-maintained lawn requires different care in spring, summer, fall, and winter. Our Lawn Care division breaks down exactly what to do — and when.
A healthy, attractive lawn doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of consistent, season-appropriate care that addresses what the grass, soil, and landscape actually need at each point in the year. RazorClean's Lawn Care division manages properties across all 50 states, and our crews follow a quarterly care calendar that keeps lawns looking their best year-round.
Spring is the season of recovery and preparation. After winter dormancy, lawns need aeration to break up compacted soil and allow water and nutrients to reach the roots. This is also the time for overseeding thin or bare patches, applying a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent crabgrass, and laying down a balanced fertilizer to fuel the growing season ahead. Edge all beds and walkways to give the property a clean, defined look.
Summer demands consistent maintenance and attention to stress. Mow regularly but never remove more than one-third of the blade height at once — cutting too short stresses the grass and invites weeds. Water deeply and infrequently, ideally in the early morning, to encourage deep root growth. Watch for signs of grub damage or fungal disease, which are most common in hot, humid conditions. Spot-treat weeds before they go to seed.
Fall is arguably the most important season for lawn health. This is when grass roots grow most aggressively, making it the ideal time for a second round of aeration and overseeding. Apply a winterizer fertilizer high in potassium to strengthen roots before the cold sets in. Rake or mulch leaves promptly — a thick layer of leaves left on the lawn can smother grass and create conditions for disease.
Winter care is mostly about protection and preparation. In colder climates, avoid walking on frozen grass, which can damage the blades. Store equipment properly, sharpen mower blades, and service irrigation systems before the first hard freeze. In warmer climates where grass stays active year-round, continue a reduced mowing and watering schedule through the winter months.
The difference between a lawn that looks good and one that looks exceptional is usually a matter of timing. Doing the right thing at the right time of year compounds over seasons into a lawn that's thick, green, and resilient.
